Thermo Fisher Scientific is the world's largest company offering products and services for science. The company develops, manufactures and distributes products for life science research and diagnostics in global markets. Its products are used worldwide to study the structure, expression and diversity of genes, to develop new diagnostic methods for congenital, hereditary and infectious diseases. Thermo Fisher Scientific management assessed Jędrzej Śniadecki (1768 - 1838) as a pioneer of the basics of organic chemistry, one of the pioneers of biochemistry in Europe and the world. The company, which conducts the most advanced biochemical research in the world, also assessed the importance of scientific tradition and the history of scientific ideas and supports scholarly heritage dissemination of Jędrzej Śniadecki, who worked almost forty years at Vilnius University as professor of chemistry and medicine. A symbolic display presenting the famous work Theory of Organic Beings (1804) by Jędrzej Śniadecki was opened in 2018.
Jędrzej Śniadecki dedicated all his efforts to the education of the young generation, its brightest ring - the students. He saw the continuity of his ideas in the activities of young, talented followers. This Sniadecki's relay, started almost two hundred years ago, has been revived by our esteemed patrons, Thermo Fisher Scientific, in honor of the academic legacy and personality of Jędrzej Śniadecki. Jędrzej Śniadecki scholarship was established and awarded for the first time in 2018. It is presented annually during the seminar Lectiones Andreae Sniadecki.
